Quite a good long time ago, there was a young boy with dark, almond shaped eyes, black hair, and dusky skin. This young boy was named Jadyka, and he had a younger brother, Jahan, who looked almost just like him. However, Jadyka and Jahan did not have parents, and by now, if you asked him if ever they did, Jadyka couldn't tell you. He remembers slight snatches of would-be memory of someone singing to him as a very small child, but only in that state between waking and sleeping.
As they didn't have parents, Jadyka and Jahan lived on the streets and foraged for their food in the forests around Pyxis, and stole whatever they couldn't make or find. It was through this that the two refined their survivalism instincts. Ultimately, though, it became not enough, and being the older of the two, Jadyka joined the HoloArena.
At some point along the line, he later came across a very injured bird-like Other, that had seemingly crashed into the rocky cliffs of some of the mountains around Pyxis. Against his better judgement, and Jahan's insistence, Jadyka decided to try saving the bird-like Other. With time, and patience, he eventually got the bird, a very large red, white, and black creature, with very vibrant cyan eyes, to start taking food and water from him. And from there, it was just a matter of ensuring it always got food and water.
Eventually, though, Jadyka was injured in the arena, and it was Jahan that brought the bird food and water. The bird seemed interested in why it was Jahan and not Jadyka, and asked. Jahan told the bird about the arena, and the bird decided that, instead of Jadyka fighting in the arena, the bird would, and it turned humanoid, calling itself Suyis. As Suyis originally didn't have a last name, he ended up adopting Jadyka and Jahan's, and started going by Suyis Maitra. He later replaced the Maitra with Lucain to separate himself from Jadyka and Jahan, somewhat, that people might not judge them based on what Suyis did as often.
Suyis Lucain is now a very renowned name. He is the current standing champion of the HoloArena, the first, and currently the only, fighter in it to retire from the arena instead of injury forcing them to stop, or them dying, with no losses on their record. Unlike most fighters, Suyis is an Other, and was able to fight without a sponsor, and he earned a very large amount of money in a fairly short period of time. From there, he went on to register himself, adopt and register Jadyka and Jahan, and then started building Suyis Corps.
Jadyka, for his own, decided to complete schooling, and later joined the United Republic. He had dreams of grandeur, really, ideas of making the world a better place, and ultimately, he just came away from it all disappointed and disheartened. He holds no illusions or misconceptions about the Republic and how it operates, and while he's remained with it so far, and has even become a very respected handler of the S.O.F., he is very quick to sneak around behind the Republic's collective backs, abuse his status for personal reasons and gain, and often commits small acts of treason. He means well, but the Republic won't see it that way. He is one of the few handlers that is kind to his assignments. Moreover, he's really more of a paternal figure for them, and his kindness and compassion have gotten him very far with part-bloods and Losrians they all said couldn't be controlled.
Maybe stop trying to control them, then.
Some several decades ago, a bomb went off at his feet, and Jadyka died for several minutes. Suyis, actually, managed to quickly throw together enough Daeni technology fast enough to save him, and now Jadyka is mostly mechanical. All that remains of his original, organic body is his brain and the stem. Yeah, not much. Suyis is working on transferring him to a Daeni casing that is more humanoid-looking. Something about being a 9 foot tall dog-headed machine making his life a bit more difficult than it needs to be. Yeah.
Art by El-Grimlock. He actually looks like that instead, at the moment.
