Initially designed as a cheap labour-force, the dae were created after The End to assist in designing and building the Dome. The dae are entirely metallic, artificial intelligence, and usually notably robotic. In recent years, the dae have taken on a myriad of other jobs and positions within society. Some dae even claim that they are capable of feeling and processing emotions, or at the very least, very close simulations of them. Using dae technology, people born with serious defects, or those that are terribly injured later in life, have the opportunity to become partially daeni; these are called organic dae, and were once human.

Mostly human, with an uncanny ability to use magic and resist speckles, places where dark magic thrives, to some extent, Losrians are not really understood. The vast majority of them were born above ground, from ancestors that never sought shelter underground after the End, and their genetic makeup has changed in odd ways. Interestingly, they're also capable of controlling the Others, though the specific mechanics of this are not well understood. A large number of Losrians are Andascan, as it was the Losrians that established and built the Andascan city-states.

Creatures of wide variety, and the only race to be innately capable of magic without any outside interference, Others come in many shapes and forms. Some are very familiar, such as magical birds or foxes, or even talking wolves, but some are not familiar at all, and take a form that cannot easily be put to words. Others are born from the dreams of humans; specifically, the Losrians, and sometimes dreams aren't terribly pretty, nor make any sense, and thus the forms an Other can take are varied. Many Others are also capable of assuming a more humanoid form, if they are not already humanoid, to better blend in.

It is now unknown why the Republic ever started to do so, but at some point, the Republic began the Special Operations Forces, or the SOF, comprised primarily of captured Others, Losrians, and part-bloods that are mostly human, with just enough Other to make them more tolerant of the Outlands. Some part-bloods are thought to be naturally occurring, and these may live in secrecy. Part-bloods are often very human in appearance and overall demeanor, but have some unique ability from their Other blood.

Typical, every-day humans, Tyrrhenians fled the End, hiding underground, and only recently returned to the planet's surface. Since then, they've build a large, climate-controlled Dome, to protect them from the harsh environment of the Outlands, and any rabid animals that may seek to attack, and even the Others. Some Tyrrhenians have decided, for whatever reason, that they do not like the Dome, and have left it, building cities and settlements in the Outlands. These are called the Outlanders. The United Republic controls and protects the Dome, and is not only its government, but also its only military.
